About the United Church of God

The mission of the United Church of God is to proclaim to the world the little-understood gospel taught by Jesus Christ—the good news of the coming Kingdom of God—and to prepare a people for that Kingdom. This message not only offers great hope for all of humanity, but encompasses the purpose of human existence—why we are here and where our world is headed. United Church of God Nigeria is the Nigerian branch of the United Church of God, an International Association which has ministers and local congregations scattered in many countries around the world with the Home Office in the United States.

UCG Nigeria's Senior Pastor is Mark Mickelson, a minister resident in the Spokane, Washington State in the United States. He makes regular visits to Nigeria each year corresponding with our spring and fall Holy Days.

Oludare Akinbo is the Minister resident in Lagos, Nigeria and pastors the congregations in Benin City, Lagos and Owerri. he also assists Mark Mickelson in Ghana, Togo and Republic of Benin in West Africa. Jesus commanded His followers to feed His sheep (John 21:15-17). To fulfill this command, the United Church of God has congregations around the world. In these congregations believers assemble to be instructed from the Scriptures and to fellowship.
